Practice Manager & Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Sumayah began her career in Southern California in 1991, starting as a veterinary receptionist and steadily working her way up while learning the field hands-on. Sumayah was later accepted into the Veterinary Technician Program at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC), where she graduated in 1998. She went on to pass her board exams and became a Registered Veterinary Technician. Over the years, she built a well-rounded career as a receptionist, technician-in-training, RVT, and ultimately Practice Manager.

In 2010, a visit to Wyoming to see a friend changed her life. She fell in love with the breathtaking beauty of Jackson, and within just three months of that fateful trip, she had uprooted her life and moved there. Since then, she has worked as the Practice Manager of a large veterinary hospital in Jackson, where she proudly wears many hats.

In 2015, Sumayah experienced a life-altering medical event—a major stroke and a deep vein thrombosis in her brain. Defying all odds, and to the amazement of her neurology team, she made a full recovery with none of the typical post-stroke deficits. That experience profoundly shifted her perspective, leaving her with a deep sense that she had been “saved” for something more.

As after-hours veterinary care in her community became an increasing challenge, and as the Not One More Vet movement brought greater awareness to the mental health struggles within the profession, Sumayah began to feel a clear calling to make a difference—not just for pets, but for the people who care for them.

In 2023, she founded Wyoming Veterinary Outreach, laying the foundation for what has grown into Veterinary Pulse Alliance. Built on two core pillars, VPA reflects both her passion and her purpose: Pet Pulse After Hours ER, designed to bring critically needed after-hours care to the community’s pets, and Vet Pulse Professional Services, focused on recruiting, supporting, and retaining veterinarians and veterinary technicians—helping them not just work, but truly thrive.

After years of dedication, planning, and perseverance, Sumayah is incredibly proud to see this vision becoming a reality—one that is poised to create lasting impact for both the veterinary community and the families they serve.
